Ingredients

  • Ketchup – 1 cup

  • Apple cider vinegar – ¼ cup

  • Brown sugar – 2 tablespoons

  • Molasses – 2 tablespoons

  • Dijon mustard – 1 tablespoon

  • Worcestershire sauce – 1 tablespoon

  • Smoked paprika – 1 teaspoon

  • Chili powder – ½ teaspoon

  • Garlic powder – ½ teaspoon

  • Onion powder – ½ teaspoon

  • Cayenne pepper (optional) – ¼ teaspoon

  • Kosher salt – to taste

  • Black pepper – to taste

  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon (for sautéing, optional)

Instructions

  • Start with a base – In a medium saucepan, add olive oil and sauté garlic powder and onion powder for 30 seconds over medium heat (optional for enhanced flavor).

  • Add wet ingredients – Pour in ketchup, vinegar, molasses, Worcestershire, and Dijon mustard. Stir well.

  • Incorporate sweeteners – Mix in brown sugar and stir until dissolved.

  • Season the sauce – Add smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne if using.
